Funeral services for John David "Dave" Corbin, age 64, of Lake Striker, are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 22, 2014, at Church of Christ in New Summerfield with Pastor Curt Gunz officiating.
Interment will be in New Salem Cemetery in New Salem. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville.
Mr. Corbin passed away Monday, December 15, 2014, at Lake Striker.
He was born December 22, 1949, in Ft. Hood.
Dave was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ in New Summerfield. He was a devoted husband, son and grandfather.
He enjoyed telling stories and always sought to entertain. Dave loved living on the lake and spending time on his boat and jet skis.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 22 years, Catherine Corbin of Hartford, CT; parents, Joseph David and Vesta Ann Corbin; sons, Shane Michael Corbin of Austin, John David Corbin, Jr. of Houston, Joseph David Corbin and wife Melanie of League City, James David Corbin and wife Melissa of Southlake; daughter, Annmarie Puckett of Alabama; sisters, Karen Davis and husband Butch of Hideaway, Patricia Sullins and husband Ronnie of Overton; brother, Robert Corbin of Lewisville. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Jennifer Nicole, Amelia Ellen, Charlotte Sophia, William James; and many nieces and nephews.
The pallbearers for the service will be fulfilled by family and family friend Junior Suarez.
Visitation will begin on Sunday, December 21, 2014 with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.

Funeral services for Joseph David Corbin, age 86, of New Summerfield, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with Kurt Gunz and Eddie Seacrest officiating. Interment will be in McDonald Cemetery in New Summerfield.
Mr. Corbin passed away Thursday, April 7, 2015, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 20, 1928, in Cherokee County to Herbert and Hattie Corbin.
Joseph was a member of Church of Christ of New Summerfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John David Corbin; and brother, Calvin Corbin.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Vesta Ann Corbin, of New Summerfield; son, Robert Corbin and fiancee Jan Rust, of Waxahachie; daughters, Patricia Sullins and husband Ronnie, of Kilgore, Karen Davis and husband Butch, of Hideaway; daughter-in-law, Catherine Corbin, of Lake Striker; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and members of the Rubio family.
Visitation will begin on Friday, April 10, 2015, with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.

Mrs. Corbin passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 at her residence.
She was born October 7, 1930, in Cherokee County to Sylvester and Johnnie Burton.
Ann was a member of the Church of Christ of New Summerfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 66 years, Joseph David Corbin; a son, John David Corbin; and a brother, Joe Burton.
Survivors include her son, Robert Corbin and fianc?e Jan Rust of Waxahachie; daughters, Patricia Sullins and husband Ronnie of Kilgore; Karen Davis and husband Butch of Hideaway; daughter-in-law, Catherine Corbin of Lake Striker; ten grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Obituary:

Billie L. Pipkin, age 97, of Tyler, Texas peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at home. She was born on April 18, 1920 in Blytheville, Arkansas, to Joseph Franklin and Merle Marguerite Wiggins Millican. She lived in Houston 40 years prior to moving to Tyler 26 years ago. She was a realtor, homemaker and a member of Green Acres Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons, Claud E. Pipkin Jr., Houston, Robert J. Pipkin, Alba, and Lynn A. Pipkin, Tomball; daughters, Barbara J. Johnston, Tyler, and Gail Murphy, League City; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 2, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home ? 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX, 77079.

(Research):I am looking for information on the ancestors for Nancy L. Hoover. I don't have any birth dates but do have death dates. Nancy L. m. John Gipson King. She died in 1924. They had the following children: Hiram d.April 15, 1920; Bettie d. January 24, 1906; Lou d. November 13, 1939; Ida d. August 22, 1956; Laura d. May 16, 1959; Carrie d. January 5, 1961; Almedia m. Ross; John Granville d. February 27, 1959; Estelle; Joe Henry d. May 4, 1953; Martha Leona; and Nancy Ardelia b. October 3, 1871, d. December 13, 1942, m. Jessie O. Hugghins February 19, 1888. Nancy L. and John G. lived in and around Rusk, Cherokee County, Texas. Any help is appreciated and will share the rest of the info that I have.
Check Cherokee County Historical Society book published +/- 15 years ago. Her parents were James Porter Hoover and Elizabeth Renshaw Hoover. They were from Rutherford County Tenn. moving to Texas +/- 1854. Elizabeth Renshaw Hoover, and others are buried at Lynches Chapel Cemetery, west of Alto.
John Wesley was a son of James Porter and Elizabeth Renshaw Hoover. He had brothers: William, and James Granville who was my great grandfather. They had about four sisters. If you check the 1850 Census for Rutherford County, Tenn. or the 1860 census for Cherokee County, Tx. it should list names.
James Porter died during the Civil War. He was a member of the Texas 18th Infantry, and died during January, 1863.
Elizabeth Matilda lived near Alto, Cherokee County until her death. She is buried at Lynches Chapel Cemetery, west of Alto. James Granville and his wife, as well as my grandparrents and parents are buried at this cemetary.
My father remembered Uncle Wesley coming to visit during the period of around 1915-1920. He said that was the only time he remembered seeing him, but Wesley was a US Marshall in the Oklahoma teritory
Our particular group of Hoovers came to Texas during the 1850's. At least one of Mathias and Nancy Warren's children, Joel came ahead of the main group. The remainder of the family arrived in Texas in 1854.
They settled Northeast of Rusk, County seat of Cherokee County at a place called Lowe's Chapel. Mathias and Nancy died on the same day, in 1861 and are buried at Lowes Chapel.
We do not know where James Porter is buried. Family tradition indicates highest probability at or near Little Rock. During the 1920's Granville and my grandfather Miller Hoover went up that way to attempt to find a grave. They had no luck.
