  Graveside services for George A. Armstrong, Jr., 57, of Henderson will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 am to 1 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Armstrong died Friday, May 15, 2009, at Henderson Memorial Hospital. He was born September 12, 1951 in Dallas and was a longtime Henderson resident. He was a body repair man for an auto shop and he was a security guard for professional wrestling Surviving are daughters; Desere Armstrong and Tiffany Armstrong, both of Henderson, and Esther Ruth Reeves of Dallas; son, Michael Badgett of Dallas; Mother and step-father Alta and Billy Jack Badgett of Dallas; father, George A. Armstrong, Sr. of Henderson; 5 sisters, 7 brothers, grandchildren, Brandon Gregg, Bryce Jenkins, and Haley Armstrong

• Notes

  George had a different kind of life. He left home at about 14 and worked in various places around the Dallas area. While he was raising his family, he worked at an auto body shop, repairing vehicles. His big love was working as a body guard/gopher for the various local wrestling stars. He also cleaned and repaired HUD homes between tenants. He loved his dogs and his last ones were Fred and Patches, miniature dachshunds. Above all, he loved his children and would do anything for them. Many of our talks were about his wishes for his girls. George was amazingly naive for leading such a crazy life. Sometimes his innocence far outweighed his street smarts and got him into a lot of trouble. There were times that I had to look deep into his eyes to be sure he wasn't making a joke. I didn't know him well - we lived 275 miles apart - so our relationship didn't really go anywhere until close to the end of his life when we both moved to Rusk County. He said something to me once that made me rethink my whole life but I don't want to share that. Just know that it was an amazing observation from an amazing big brother.
