    Jennifer Ann Bernard, 44, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2002 in Phoenix after an extended illness.
    She was born February 11, 1958, in Galveston and was an LVN at Phoenix hospitals.
    Jennifer is preceded in death by her father, David Schmidt; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. F.F. Schmidt; maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Holzworth.
    Survivors include her mother of La Porte; two daughters, of La Porte; son of Tucson, Arizona; sister Donna of La Porte; cousins, of Hitchcock and League City; numerous nieces.
    A visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, July 17, 2002, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque with the Rev. Bobby Cain officiating.

    VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS - David L. Schmidt, 72, of Van Buren, Arkansas, passed away Monday, June 17, 2002, in a local hospital.
    He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, a member of the Crockett Place United Methodist Church in Galveston, Texas, and a retired computer technician. He was a former employee of Ft. Smith Southwest Times, The Tucson Newspaper and the Galveston Daily News.
    Visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. until service time at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2002, James Crowder funeral Home Chapel in La Marque, Texas, with burial in Galveston Memorial Park, Hitchcock, Texas.
    Survivors are his wife, Virginia of Van Buren; daughters, Donna of La Porte, Texas, and Jennifer Bernard of Phoenix, Arizona; sisters, Bertha of La Marque, Texas, and Jessie of Texas City, Texas brother, F.F. Schmidt, Jr. of Texas City; 6 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    Pallbearers will be friends.

    Marilyn Watson, born Marilyn Evon Holzworth, died peacefully Sunday, September 3rd, 2017 after a lengthy struggle with Cancer. Marilyn was born on February 26, 1935 in Galveston Texas.
    She was preceded in death by her mother and father Elmer A and Juanita Holzworth, her two brothers, Elmer A Holzworth Jr. and Robert Earl Holzworth and her daughter Jennifer Ann Bernard. She is survived by her daughter Donna Kay. Marilyn was blessed with two grandsons, four granddaughters, 7 great granddaughters, and 6 great grandsons. She has many nieces and nephews who she loved as her own children.
    Marilyn grew up in Galveston and went to Ball High School, furthering her education at John Sealy for nursing. Marilyn lived most of her adult life in the Houston/Galveston area, but did relocate for several years in Colorado where she loved traveling the upper northwest United States. She enjoyed playing and teaching piano, singing and dancing in her younger years.
    There will be a private Memorial Service held September 16th at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses' in Deer Park where she will be honored by family and friends. She will be missed dearly.
