"Mrs. Dee, mother of Will Dee of this community passed away at the home of a daughter in Sterling last Thursday. Funeral services were held at the Burdett Church Sunday afternoon by Rev. Dean of Sterling. Interment was made at the Burdett Cemetery. Mrs. Dee was an old time resident of the community."

"Mrs. Nancy Dee Dead-- Was Pioneer Resident of Logan County: Mrs. Nancy McGhee Dee, 80 years of age, a pioneer resident of Logan county, died at her home in Sterling Thursday night. Death came after a long illness. Funeral services were held Sunday at the church in the Burdett community where Mrs. Dee lived for many years. Rev. C. L. Dean, pastor of the Sterling Christian church, conducted the services. Arrangements were in charge of the Jackson mortuary. Mr. and Mrs. Dee came to the Burdett community about 1885 where Mr. Dee filed on a homestead. They lived in that section until 1916 when Mr. Dee died. Mrs. Dee has lived in Sterling since that time. Surviving Mrs. Dee are six children: Mrs. Mildred Krause and Mrs. Olive Ashby, of Sterling; William Dee of Burdett; Mrs. Mary Howe of Council, Idaho; John Dee of Sioux City, IA; and Mrs. Ida Lukehart of Payette, Idaho."

James Dee pension file: "This is to certify that I, Nancy E. Dee whose residence is Sterling, Logan County, Colorado, am not able to furnish records to show proof of the date of my birth, for the reason that family records are in the possession of a niece and I do not know the address of said niece.
"I was born January 7, 1853 near Finley, County of Hancock, State of Ohio. When I was nine months of age my parents moved to near Hardin, County of Alamakee, State of Iowa. I lived at this place until 1883 making my home with my father and mother, John McGhee and Elizah McGhee.
"The full names of all of my brothers and sisters living in June, 1860 and June 1870 are: Robert McGhee, Sarah McGhee, Nelson McGhee, Merideth McGhee, William McGhee, Elizabeth McGhee, Mary Ann McGhee and Luchies McGhee.
"One brother, same being Merideth McGhee, enlisted in the United States Army in 1862, served in Company A, Twenty-seventh Regiment of the infantry.
"All of the above I make under oath this 21st day of July, 1928."
